Oh, he's not even that bad, compared to some- it was just the final straw, reading the Dresden Files books, and getting pissed off about the huge amount of male gaze and objectification, and how Butcher didn't even notice how he spent more time describing the nipples of the female characters than actually giving them real personality...

And it's funny how that failtastic stereotyping of gays so often comes hand-in-hand with equally awful stereotyping of women.
Absolutely. Two great books immediately come to mind: Homophobia: A Weapon of Sexism, and Whipping Girl: A Transsexual Woman on Sexism and the Scapegoating of Femininity. Our society privileges constructions of hyper-masculinity over any sort of perceived femininity hugely, and it is so damaging to everyone.
