Lord Peter Wimsey Fanfic Recs

My Lord Peter Wimsey fanfic rec list.

Last updated April 3, 2015.

It's a small but excellent fandom, and the list is comprised of a bit of everything- gen, het, slash, AUs, and crossovers.

10 X 100 by rabidsamfan.
Author's summary: Ten drabbles for Charles Parker.
Notes: The history of Peter and Charles' friendship through drabbles. Gen.

NEW 1918 by rabidsamfan.
Author's summary: An encounter at the end of one career and the beginning of another.
Notes: Honoria Wimsey and Sherlock Holmes are both waiting for injured loved ones to return from WWI. A really lovely crossover.

All Our Scattered Leaves by marycrawford.
Author's summary: A selection of letters and diaries on the eve of the Armistice.
An excellent look at Peter in 1918, with a great Honoria voice, and glimpses at Bunter and Miss Climpson.

As Their Wimsey Took Them by Thassalia.
Summary: Peter's young sons get up to mischief, as he, Harriet, and the Dowager Duchess reflect on parenthood.
Notes: Spot-on, and written with perfect emotional resonance. A great look at the characters facing parenthood.

The Bleak Midwinter by hangingfire.
Author's summary: Christmas Eve, 1939. In which Lord and Lady Peter Wimsey look to the future.
Notes: A reflective fic in which Peter worries about the coming war, and Harriet offers him a bit of hope.

The Conscience of the Queen by Ione.
Author's summary: When the new Lady Peter begins receiving threatening notes, she decides to solve this mystery on her own.
Notes: A post-marriage Harriet story. The author really gets the subtleties of each of the characters, and paints them with skill and delicacy.

Death in Bohemia by nineveh_uk.
Summary: Harriet encounters a rather bloody awful poet at a party in Bohemia. A Strong Poison A/U that's a crossover with Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
Notes: An outlandish-sounding but totally brilliant and spot-on crossover with BTVS.

Devil Took the Soldier Boy by copperbadge.
Author's summary: Aziraphael and Crowley have a bet, with Lord Peter Wimsey's soul as the stakes.
Notes: A crossover with Good Omens. An angel and a demon have one of their clashes over Peter, during and after the war.

NEW Gentle Antidote by x_los.
Author's summary: At twenty-one, Harriet Vane gets her Name. It's rather longer than she expected.
Notes: A soulmates AU where the name of your soulmate appears on your arm when you turn 21. Lovely, lovely Peter/Harriet fic.

Go and Catch a Falling Star by hollimichele.
Summary: Harriet and Peter run into some rather odd people while investigating a couple of cases of spontaneous human combustion at Duke's Denver.
Notes: A crossover with Doctor Who, as Amy, Rory, and Eleven are on site investigating the same incidents as Peter and Harriet. A charming crossover with a solid plot.

Green Ice by Adina.
Author's summary: Bertie Wooster has an unfortunate reputation for pinching things--necklaces, amber statuettes, umbrellas--a reputation that becomes dashedly awkward when Lord Attenbury's emeralds go missing. Fortunately his old friend Flim is on hand to straighten things out. Crossover between P.G. Wodehouse's Jeeves and Wooster and Dorothy Sayers Lord Peter Wimsey.
Notes: A fascinating and unique take on Bertie Wooster, and why he is the way he is. Nor is this just a character study; the story has a well-executed mystery, and plenty of Wodehouse-esque moments. It's a bit more Wodehouse than Wimsey, but as Bertie narrates, this is only to be expected.

NEW Harriet and Sergeant by OnYourMark.
Author's summary: Bunter snaps a photo, Peter gets a cough, and Harriet starts a novel. Somehow, in the middle of it all, Harriet and Bunter come to an understanding.
Notes: Post Busman's Honeymoon, Bunter and Harriet deal with a suffering Peter.

The Incident of the Fellow in the Fellows' Garden by azdak.
Author's summary: Lord Peter visits and old friend at Cambridge and finds himself investigating a mysterious death as the worlds of academia and espionage collide. Crossover with the Man from UNCLE, but much more Wimseyish than UNCLEish.
Notes: Another fascinating and unique crossover (something which I love about the Wimsey fandom). A young Illya Kuryakin, grad student at Cambridge, is at the heart of a mystery involving an apparent suicide. An excellent multi-chapter gen story.

Investigating by copperbadge.
Author's summary: When Charles arrests Peter in an... unfortunate nightclub, he wants an explanation.
Notes: A subtle (and g-rated) Peter/Charles story. Parker gets Lord Peter out of a rather awkward situation, but has some questions (and some thoughts).

Moving On by nineveh_uk.
Author's summary: A Busman's Honeymoon missing scene: Sylvia and Eiluned help Harriet pack up her flat before the wedding.
Notes: Short and sweet, and a nice glimpse at two underused Wimsey characters. I like seeing Harriet with her friends.

NEW The Noon Hour by Persiflager.
Author's summary: Harriet enjoys a quiet morning at Audley Square.
Notes: A post-marriage slice of life fic.

The Nose of Yesteryear by nineveh_uk.
Summary: An elderly Peter reflects upon his nose.
Notes: A charming and perfect snippet of the much older Peter and Harriet, reflecting on the past.

The Rain it Raineth on the Just by nineveh_uk.
Summary: A slight A/U to the ending of Gaudy Night, in which the weather is not nice, and Harriet takes action.
Notes: Lovely and insightful, with just a mild A/U twist.

Ring Out, Wild Bells by keswindhover.
Author's summary: Harriet, Lord Saint-George and Lord Peter Wimsey meet in 1942.
Notes: Saint-George is injured during WWII, and Harriet comes to see him at the hospital.

Scarce Any Man by Atalan.
Author's summary: Harriet celebrates her success and fights a sense of failure. Major spoilers for "The Unpleasantness at the Bellona Club" and minor ones for "Strong Poison".
Notes: An excellent look at Harriet, pre-Strong Poison, complete with a minor reference or two to Peter.

Small Things by Niamh St. George.
Author's summary: Set after Busman's Honeymoon and the short story "The Haunted Policeman." Peter and Harriet's first Christmas with young Bredon.
Notes: Just a sweet snippet of life for the Wimsey family at Christmas.

'Tell Beauty How She Blasteth' by tree_and_leaf.
Author's summary: AU, Post-Strong Poison. This is not a cheerful story, you have been warned.
Notes: A wrenching, painful, brilliant A/U, in which Peter is unable to save Harriet from hanging.

Where All Past Years Are by Atalan.
Author's summary: "Charles is not an imaginative man." A set of musings upon forgiveness. Spoilers for most of the series.
Notes: A vignette of Charles Parker's ruminations.

Wimsey & I by azdak.
Author's summary: A fusion of sorts: A Missing Scene from Unnatural Death/A Classic British Stoner Movie.
Notes: A fusion between Lord Peter and the movie Withnail & I. Not unexpectedly, a bit mad.

'Wither Thou Goest' by Niamh St. George.
Author's summary: Harriet and Peter are stranded at Talboys for Christmas and Peter is, understandably, annoyed.
Notes: A nice bit of post-Busman's Honeymoon fluff.
