Apropos of Nothing. (Bowie Videos)

Just because I felt like it, I have for you my top 10 Bowie Music Videos (with the help of YouTube).

1. The Heart's Filthy Lesson. First of all, Outside is my all time favorite Bowie album. Second, Bowie was unbelievably hot in the mid 90s, and this video definitely emphasizes that fact.

2. Dancing in the Street. David Bowie and Mick Jagger look like the biggest dorks in all of existence in this video. It definitely falls into the "so bad, it is made of awesome" category. David Bowie's jazz hands win at life.

3. China Girl. Bowie at his 80s hottest, great song, excellent video. Love the segues between color and black/white. Also, Bowie rolling around naked in the ocean= hotness.

4. John, I'm Only Dancing. Ziggy Stardust at his sexiest. Hot video, hot song, plus bonus points to Bowie for using his old mime troupe.

5. Jump They Say. Bowie at his early 90s hottest. Why aren't music videos this cool anymore?

6. I'm Afraid of Americans. Bowie and Trent Reznor looking like the biggest dorks of all time, after Bowie and Jagger. Also, who doesn't love a song that has the line "Johnny wants pussy in cars" in it?

7. Peace on Earth/Little Drummer Boy. Speaking of wacked out duets, how about the Christmas classic of Bowie and Bing, complete with awkward fake skit? The awkwardness juxtaposed with their actually lovely harmony is made of awesome.

8. Boys Keep Swinging. Bowie in drag. Bowie dancing. The insanity of early music videos. What's not to love?

9. Life on Mars?. My friend Steve once walked by while I was watching this video, and asked, "Who is that strangely attractive woman?"

10. Jean Genie. Yet another sexy promo video from the Ziggy days. Great song, the hotness of Bowie...

And there are so many more. But they shall be saved for another day.

I am pretty sure I have seen most of those, and probably my two favorites are "Boys Keep Swinging" and "The Heart's Filthy Lesson." The imagery in the latter is spectacular.

For good reason, I've learned the best things in life should be shared, good music, good movies, good books, good wine. If something brings me that amount of joy, I am thrilled at the thought of giving the people I care about the chance to experance it.

thanks for posting that... what a lovely diversion in my workday. I hadn't seen any of these in ages.

I'm Afraid of Americans might be my favorite music video, because it includes two of the hottest pieces of man on the planet.

I've always hated the Bowie/Jagger song, but I forgot how totally fantastic it becomes when watching the video.
