I've only just gotten into Pushing Daisies, and now it looks like it is pretty much doomed to be canceled. Why, ABC, why?

I really get the impression that ABC is *trying* to get the show canceled. The week after they get the highest ratings all season (which was practically guaranteed given last week's timeslot) they go and have a two week hiatus! WTF?!?!!

I'm seriously upset, too. The only positive angle I can look at this from is that they've reworked the 13th episode so it isn't a cliff-hanger. At this point, all I want is some sense of closure.

It's funny, because I swear Showtime was the same way with Dead Like Me. It got good ratings, it was popular, and they just killed it.

Maybe the networks don't like Bryan Fuller for some reason?

I liked Wonderfalls a lot, too, which was apparently canceled in large part because no one could relate to the characters. I'm not sure what it says about me that I immediately and strongly id'ed with the main character, Jaye. :)

Also, I've only ever seen one episode of Dead Like Me (the pilot, whenever it first aired, so a while ago) - is it worth the time to check out? How long is it?

I adore Dead Like Me. It only ran two season before being canceled, about 14 or 15 episodes a season. It has some similarities to Pushing Daisies (a but surreal, odd humor, rather humorously morbid) but is a bit darker and doesn't really do much romance. Mandy Patinkin (Inigo Montoya) is in it as the head Reaper, and it is worth watching for his character alone.

I haven't seen Wonderfalls, but it has been recommended to me, so it's on my Netflix queue.

Well, that's good enough for me! I'll have to check it out. I could use a show that avoid romance; it seems like everything I watch focuses so strongly on that, and I kind of want a break.

Yes! Wonderfalls is great! There are 13 episodes, they knew the cancellation was coming in advance, and I was pretty satisfied with the resolution. Also, Lee Pace. :)

WTF? about two weeks ago I heard it was getting picked up for a full season. They must be taking orders from some moody three year old child.

As of this moment, once they finish filming episode 13 of S2 next week, they're done. Damn the ABC moody child!
