It makes you want to grab them by the shoulders and shake, yelling things like "The Doctor will not leave Rose for you if you badmouth her hard enough!"
This is so true. Whether they acknowledge it or not, many fans do want the character they identify with the be with the hero, and anyone who gets in the way of that is an evil harridan.
