The only reason I could keep watching that particular JJ Abrams interview was because Jon Stewart's reaction was so perfect ("I'm sorry, I stopped listening after you said you didn't like Star Trek"). He maintains that he's trying to make a film that appeals to both Trek fans and a general audience, but I don't see it. On the other hand, for a movie intended for a general audience, he also seems to assume that everyone already walks into the film understanding why they should care about the characters, so. Who knows?
(For about five seconds I though Uhura was going to honor-whammy the Klingons into helping them track down Khan. Those five seconds were the best!)
