I have so many lovely screencaps of Odo & Kira, and I know a couple of people on my flist have recently started getting into DS9, so I figured I might do a little picspam. I don't have any hi-res caps, so some of them are a little grainy, but oh well.

I remember all the angst leading up to them getting together and thinking Kira was such a CLOD for not seeing how he felt about her!! Glad this couple finally made it. :)

Oh, I know. I think I started shipping them all the way back in S2, and in actual time it took SO LONG for them to get together, and I never ever thought it was going to happen, but then "His Way" came along... and then I worried the writers wouldn't handle the relationship well, but instead it was lovely, and mature, and so them. ::loves::

In theory, I have all this conflict about these two –– but then every time I see them together, my heart melts and I totally buy the 'ship again. I think it's Kira's cute little 'I'm being nuzzled!' face that really does it for me, in the end. Sigh. Thanks for the happy moment. ;)

Lol, I know Nana and Rene weren't too thrilled about it, and they have all these issues from "Children of Time" and when the Dominion took the station and this that and the other, but seriously? One look at the way she just melts when he kisses her and I totally, totally buy it. Every little moment they have after they get together is so realistic, so in character, I'm just like, "Issues? What issues?"

Yes – the best thing is how well two actors who were opposed to taking this direction with their characters just sell the hell out of it anyway. Nana in the 'Chimera' scene where Odo becomes an energy cloud? Kills me right dead, every effing time. Aaand... just thinking about it has melted my brain, right in time to go to work. Blast.

Odo/Kira is totally my fave couple ever (okay, okay, running neck and neck with Picard/Crusher and Kirk/Spock and Janeway/Chakotay, but who's fussin'?) and I totally adore them, and this basically just made my day. :)

I think - and, mind you, I love Odo/Kira as pairing - that the tension and longing really made these two for me. We had, what? 5? seasons of "will they?," to the point where the actual joining (and I think I remember some real freaky Changling sexin' scenes at one point? or is that just my wild imagination talking) was anti-climatic. Very rarely do I find the post-consummation story as interesting as what's come before. But they are still all sorts of awesome.

Oh, I agree- the tension beforehand was really what made them. But I was actually very impressed at how their relationship was handled after they got together. It was mature, it was adult, it wasn't easy, and it was still true to character.

But in terms of fanfic et al, the coming together is often the most interesting part (why I have so very many "first-time" fics bookmarked for every single pairing I ship).

I too am a fan of first-time fic. But, oddly enough, the only fic I've read from DS9 is Bashir/Garak. I don't tend to follow canon pairings.

Every time you post about DS9 it makes me want to marathon the damn thing. Evil, evil. :)

Yeah- there honestly isn't a whole lot of really good O/K fanfic out there. I dunno if it is because canon handled it well, or if the good stuff has been lost to the mists of time, or what, but it makes me sad. There is definitely a lot more awesome G/B out there.

Heh, do it. Or you can marathon the best episodes- I've been sort of doing that, lately. I find this set of reviews really helpful. With a few minor exceptions, we're lagely in agreement on the quality of each episode.

Looking through just the S1 reviews, it's amazing how many great episodes DS9 had from the very start.

It really is. Even though I feel like they didn't hit their stride till S3, there are still so many awesome early episodes. Two of my very favorites are from S1 & S2 (Duet & Necessary Evil).

I recently forced a friend to watch DS9 with me from start to finish. It was the first I'd done that since the series finale way back when.

I didn't think it was possible for me to love them more than I did the first time around, but apparently I could.
