Movieverse roller skates would make the world a better place. You know, with all the movieverse fanfic going around these days, I'm surprised no one has picked up on this yet. It's about as canon as Steve/Steve's shield (and that is true romance).

Hey, IM:AA is awesome. And sometimes, you've got to go against the crowd.

My hetero-lifemate, for example, is anti-movieverse!Tony/Steve, because she's really weirded out by the age difference.

IM:AA rivals my love for Doctor Who WHICH ACTUALLY SAYS A LOT. I just. It gives me more feelings than any children's cartoon should be allowed to. As far as alternate universes go it's considerably more well-developed than many concerning adaptating canon characterisation to different circumstances (unpopular opinion time: I think it's a lot more well-developed than the Iron Man movies, actually).

I'm mostly weirded out by the fact that the movie hasn't even been released yet and people are already shipping them like crazy. Not the ones who were already shipping them, I mean. Idk, it just seems sort of strange to me when you don't even have any movieverse canon interaction to fall back on.

I am also incredibly weirded out and almost squicked by Steve/Howard, but that's neither here nor there.

I guess because there was already the comics fandom (woo, comics fandom!), and there are the existing individual movies for Tony & Steve, so we have their separate personalities, combined with the fact that they are played by two very attractive actors? I dunno. I've read some good stuff, but I prefer the comics!verse (well, anything but Ultimates), most of the time.

Fyeah comics fandom! Shippers gonna ship and all that, I don't really mind since it produces some nice fanworks, but I'm also the kind of person who prefers solid canon material for her ships; it's a reason I don't care much for crackships, for example. The only negative thing about the sudden influx of movieverse stuff is that 616 (and MA! MA come back I miss yooou D:) gets kind of neglected. *Pets*

Thank God. I just... Can't stop thinking of Howard as an irredeemable jerkass. He's a terrible father even in MA!verse for Chrissakes! That takes a seriously rotten core!

Yeah. I'm about the same, most of the time- I need to feel like the characters have good chemistry with each other (and not foe-yay, because that generally doesn't work for me) in order to ship them. And I also need to like both of them.

I know! Poor Tony, he even got angst in MA!verse. ::strokes him::

It's sort of interesting to see how the movieverse part of the fandom generally portrays their relationship though; there are some tendencies that are so different from comics fandom it's kind of amusing.

I still find it a bit hard to HATE Howard in MA!verse though since he's... Somehow easier to understand there. He clearly had issues with his own father. Although it's a bit of a shame a large part of the fandom doesn't seem to be aware of his existence since most have only read MA: Avengers, I think?

Idk, I just want all the fics with Steve meeting his prospective father-in-law. All of them. I've only found one and that is saaad. :'(

Yeah, I can only think of the one Howard meets prospective son-in-law, fic, too. There really should be more. Plus more stories with THE ROLLER SKATES.

I honestly haven't thought much about the age gap, maybe because it's just one of those... Things. Plus I think Tony is supposed to be slightly younger than what RDJ actually is. Considering the set-up of the team in question age hasn't really been a priority. XD

Personally, I've found myself surprised over my own anticipation of Tony's relationship with Bruce Banner, which is weird because I... Really don't like the Hulk, lol. But I think Ruffalo said in some interview that they have this strange thing going on where Tony constantly tries to piss Bruce off, and Bruce actually kind of likes that because everyone else are so afraid of him and handles him with silk gloves. ~*Intriguing*~

HOWARD-MEETS-PROSPECTIVE-SON-IN-LAW + ROLLER SKATES = THE MA!FIC TO END ALL MA!FICS. God, I wish I could've thought of this when I had a hard time coming up with Secret Santa prompts.

Fffffff-- and here I thought arranged marriages were getting out of style in the 40s. Shame on you, boys.

Yes! I was interested to see that interview, and the little clip in the movie of the two interacting. I'll admit that the Hulk tends to be one of my least favorite Marvel characters, and I didn't enjoy either of the recent movies (though the Norton one was at least watchable). But if anyone could make me like the Hulk, it would be Joss Whedon, and some amusing chemistry with Ruffalo and RDJ.

And I was really impressed by how they re-imagined a lot of the Iron Man canon and updated it in fascinating ways. I'm not always a fan of teen versions of things, but they really put a lot of thought, care, and development into the storylines and characters. (I just wish they'd put the same care into the actual animation.)

That's another thing I really love about it; even with the popularity of the Iron Man movies and the upcoming Avengers movie, IM:AA ir very heavily rooted in comics canon. Even small stuff like Tony having to recharge his heart or using roller skates is so much fun to see, not to mention the villains (the Season 1 appearance of Hawkeye and Black Widow!). There's also a lot of character development and interaction that is clearly thought out; I love me a cartoon with psychological process.

And yeah, the animation. Still, with the high quality of the show itself, I've learnt to live with it. =3= Although I wish they could AT LEAST change the graphics of the opening theme of the second season. YOU JUST HAVE TO CHANGE SOME CLIPS FROM THE SERIES ITSELF TO SHOW THAT GENE ISN'T THE MAIN VILLAIN ANYMORE, JEEZ. 8I

I love that the villains in IMAA are very three-dimensional, and not all EVIL LAUGHTER DEATH DEATH DEATH. It makes a more interesting show.

Yeah, I've spent a lot of thought on this. They all seem to be either very... Human; driven by greed or ambition, or very damaged. It's interesting to note that all the sympathetic villains on the show are victims of child abuse (I cried at the end of the Living Laser + M.O.D.O.C episode. LEGIT TEARS).

Which really makes me more curious about Justin Hammer's background in S2, because so far he's really behaved as a batshit insane homicidal brat. O__o

I haven't gotten to S2 yet, but I'm curious to see, myself.

That second Living Laser episode was really good. There are several points in S1 that made me misty. (Including that one scene with Rhodey's mom and Tony.)

:D S2 has some great stuff; admittedly also some weak episodes and some things I'm less excited about, but still great stuff. The rest of the Marvel universe starts to become truly integrated with AA!verse in the shape of a bazillion references, Tony is being... Tony (the two-part first episodes of the second season are... Incredibly, painfully IC) and also did I mention Armor Wars? Because there is Armor Wars. And Doctor Doom. And Hawkeye and Black Widow. Basically AWESOME.

The Living Laser is... One of those characters I never thought I'd cry over, lol. This cartoon, what has it done to me. I found the S1 finale positively heartbreaking as well, in a "LOOK AT YOUR LIFE GENE, LOOK AT YOUR CHOICES" kind of way (Gene Khan gives me feeeelings, I could probably write a mini-essay on his role in this cartoon).
